City of Unley Speed Limit Reduction Proposal

The City of Unley is proposing to lower the speed limit from 50 km/h to 40 km/h on all local and major collector roads in the area, including East Avenue. This does not include roads which come under the care and responsibility of the State Government such as Goodwood Road, Cross Road or South Road.

I have been advised by Council that this proposal has only been consulted on through a small random sample survey. As your local State Member of Parliament, I want to ensure that all Clarence Park residents can have their say on this proposal.

Lower speed limits can improve safety, reduce emissions and decrease wear and tear on infrastructure, without affecting travel times too much. On East Avenue a reduction in the speed limit from 50 to 40 will add 12 seconds of travel time from Cross Road to the train line.
